Peebles is readily accessible from any direction. It is well served by public transport and has major routes approaching from the North (A703), East and West (A72).

By Road, Peebles is approximately :

30 minutes by car from Edinburgh.

Around an hour from Glasgow.

Around an hour and a half from Newcastle and Carlisle.

By Bus

The region's bus service operator is Border Buses which links all the major towns within the Borders. National Express links the Borders to Newcastle.

The journey to Peebles takes a little under one hour from either Edinburgh or Galashiels and runs approximately every 30 minutes (though please check times ahead of your journey)

From Edinburgh, the bus route continues through Peebles to Galashiels or Melrose and the bus to Peebles will normally be identified with either of those names plus 'via Peebles'.

From Galashiels, it will be identified as 'Edinburgh via Peebles' (this is important as there are two separate routes leaving Galashiels for Edinburgh.
