Walking down the Bridgegate, you pass 'Mint Close' (1762), the house of DoctorRobert Craig who was a surgeon in the town 1825-68
Among the doctors patients was an Irish Labourer named Hare who later, with his partner Burke, became the notorious 'Burke and Hare' - murderers and grave robbers in Edinburgh. This building was also Dr Cockburn's School for Boys.
