Visit Peebles - The Royal Burgh

Peebles Concert Band

We are a group of amateur wind instrument players who rehearse and perform for fun in and around Peebles. We always welcome new players of all ages and abilities.

The Band was first formed in September 2008  by Daniel T Ward  With approx 15 members.

Our inaugural concert was in May 2009 - all members were amateur.

Regular instruments are...flutes, clarinets , alto and tenor sax, cornets, euphoniums , bassoon, trombones and tuba, with extra help drafted in for concerts ie percussion etc.

Members age varies widely from 12 to 80 years old and there are now approx 25 members.

We rehearse on Wednesday between 7.30 and 9.00pm and hold concerts and coffee mornings in the Peebles Rugby Club. The Rugby Club continue to be extremely supportive.

The Concert band are self funding, with each (adult) member paying £2 for any rehearsal they attend - Coffee mornings and concerts bring in much needed extra income. The funds pay for new music and professional help in the form of a  conductor.

As well as performing concerts, we play at different venues at different times of the year as requested - places like Traquair and Kailzie as well as Christmas carols in and around Peebles.

Rehearsals are always fun and we are always on the lookout for new players of any Windband instrument.

As well as the main concert band, there is also a junior band which rehearses on Monday evenings in the Peebles Silver Band hall.

We are fortunate to be able to call upon some of the players from the Silver Band to help us with concerts.

We  also have Tutti Flutti  (local flute group) performing at our concerts, and also the Junior band.
